Manchester hosting company gives support to tech startups in North West
Melbourne Server Hosting, a leading Manchester web hosting company, is helping ignite the growth of the city’s digital economy by sponsoring Startup Weekend – a new venture to help tech entrepreneurs in Manchester learn how to turn their ideas into successful businesses.
Manchester Startup Weekend is part of a global movement over the weekend of November 9 to November 11 to encourage and empower young entrepreneurs in the tech sector.
The event, which is taking place at the new TechHub Manchester, will bring local developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and prepare business models for market. The 54-hour frenzy will culminate with a Dragon’s Den-style presentation in front of local entrepreneurial leaders.
Melbourne Server Hosting provides reliable and secure managed hosting and cloud services for a range of digital and creative businesses and tech startups in the north west of England and is the first well known tech company in the region to give financial support to TechHub Manchester.
Rajesh Joshi, Brand Manager for Melbourne Server Hosting, said: “Our web hosting company began life as a startup in a university bedroom so we understand exactly what’s needed to turn an idea into a real and successful business. Secure and reliable hosting underpins the tech economy so this is a smashing opportunity for us to support Manchester’s tech startup scene and encourage the new entrepreneurs of the future.”
The Startup Weekend is being organised by TechHub Manchester, the new incubator space for technology startups in the city based at Carver’s Warehouse, Piccadilly Basin. TechHub Manchester is the brainchild of Doug Ward and Shaun Gibson, who are technology advisors to the UK Cabinet Office.
Doug Ward said: “We’re absolutely buzzing that Melbourne is supporting Startup Weekend Manchester as part of our vision of turning Manchester into a top five European startup destination. With Melbourne being a local company that’s now part of a national business, the fact that it’s also willing to collaborate and share its knowledge will be inspirational to many of Manchester’s finest tech talent.”
Melbourne’s success has led it to become part of one of the UK’s leading cloud computing companies, iomart Group plc, which recently announced a multi-million pound investment in a new super-fast fibre network to provide even greater connectivity to its customers across the UK.
Rajesh Joshi added: “Both iomart Group and Melbourne Server Hosting are proud to be backing Startup Weekend and helping to showcase the north west as the best place to found a tech startup.”Subscribe to RSS Feed
