iomart Hosting congratulates Green IT winners

24th May 2011 · Press Releases

iomart Hosting congratulates all the winners and runners-up at this year’s Green IT Awards.

We were proud to be sponsors of this year’s Awards ceremony along with BCS The Chartered Institute of IT and the Department of Energy and Climate Change and were very impressed with all the entries.

iomart’s director of marketing Phil Worms sat on the judging panel. He said: “We are keenly aware that the IT industry, like many others, has a role to play in reducing its environmental impact. What impressed me was that all the finalists showed they are taking this message seriously.”

The importance of the Awards was underlined by the presence of Catalina McGregor Green IT liaison officer at the United Nations.

She said: “I cannot walk away from the Green IT awards without feeling inspired and humbled by the quality of the winners. The passion and determination to do good with ICT is contagious and incredibly rewarding.”

She urged everyone present to "keep on innovating and to keep seeking greener IT solutions at every opportunity despite the obstacles that may be faced."

The winners in each of the 21 different categories were decided by a judging panel and the votes of the readers of Green IT Magazine.
