Cloud computing company supports 2013 Online Media Awards
Cloud computing company iomart Group plc (AIM:IOM), is the headline sponsor for the 2013 Online Media Awards, which honour excellence in digital journalism.
The Online Media Awards are organised by marketing and media website The Drum. Last year’s winners included some of the world’s leading websites, The Guardian, Huffington Post, Mail Online, BBC, Sunday Times, the Economist and Channel 4 News.
Phil Worms, Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing for iomart Group plc, said: “The internet has transformed the way we deliver and digest news to the point where you can get more information from a 140 character Tweet than you can from a television summary. News has no boundaries and iomart is proud to be sponsoring awards that recognise the digital journalists who continue to bring us breaking stories and vibrant content from all the corners of the globe.”
iomart owns and manages seven data centres across the UK and provides web hosting for a number of large newspaper and media organisations including Newsquest, STV and Livestation, the largest aggregator of live streaming television news.
This year’s Online Media Awards include seven new categories to recognise journalism in various sectors as well as by individuals. They include: best app for smart phone or tablet; best freelance writer; best photographer; best business/finance news site, and outstanding digital team of the year, in association with the British Journalism Review.
Online Media Awards founder Gordon Young commented: “The Online Media Awards have very quickly become established among the world’s top online media owners and editors as an important benchmark for the work that they are doing to build strong online brands.
“Being the only awards scheme that focus solely on rewarding the online teams, this event is extremely important in giving the digital teams and individuals the credit they so richly deserve. Now in their 3rd year the awards are going from strength to strength and this would not be possible without the support of our sponsor iomart.”
More information on the awards and how to enter can be found here. The deadline for entries is Wednesday 10 April.
