Host Your Kit Campaign Helps Launch New Basketball Club in Argyll
Host Your Kit is giving away free kits to deserving youth basketball and football teams across the UK. Lochgoilhead Community Sports Club contacted Host Your Kit to ask if it could help out with some equipment so they could begin to teach their young members how to play basketball.
Phil Worms, Director of Marketing for iomart Group plc, said: “The whole ethos behind Host Your Kit is to help young and enthusiastic children to play sport, so when we received the email from Lochgoilhead Community Sports Club we absolutely had to help them out. Basketball is a growing sport and to be able to facilitate the start of a basketball club in Lochgoilhead is a very proud moment for us. ”
Not only did iomart provide a package of basketball equipment through its Host Your Kit retail partner Gilmour Sports but the cloud company also arranged for Scotland international Rebecca Cumming to deliver an introductory coaching session for the children through Host Your Kit’s official supporter basketballscotland.
David Moffat, a volunteer leader at Lochgoilhead Community Sports Club said: “We’re so grateful to iomart and their Host Your Kit campaign. Thanks to them we now have the equipment we need to teach our youngsters basketball plus the contacts with basketballscotland, the national governing body, to help develop the sport further. This really is the start of something special.”
Basketballscotland is creating a series of development centres so youngsters across the region can learn to play the game and compete in leagues.
Chris Cleary, West Regional Basketball Development Officer for basketballscotland, who attended the Lochgoilhead launch, said: ““The sport is growing within Argyll and Bute and this type of investment from iomart and Gilmour Sports can only add to this. The future looks good for basketball in Argyll and Bute!”
