iomart Supports Music Trip to Home of Defending Champions Spain

As champions Spain prepare to start their defence against the Netherlands in Brazil tonight, iomart is delighted to be helping a Scottish secondary school tune up for its own World Cup performance.

The 30-strong Senior Wind Band from Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh will be performing three concerts in Spain while the football World Cup takes place. As part of the tour the pupils have also been invited to visit the Nou Camp, home to Barcelona FC and Andres Iniesta, who scored the goal that helped Spain win the last World Cup.

The tour takes place from 17th to 22nd June and is being supported by iomart.

Pamela Frew, Principal Music Teacher at Hermitage Academy, said: “It’s the first time we’ve taken the wind band abroad so it’s a fantastic opportunity for our young musicians. To be playing while Spain are defending the World Cup will make it even more exciting as there’s bound to be an incredible atmosphere in Barcelona.”

Fourteen year old tuba player Ross Pearce, aged 14, said: “I think it’ll be amazing to be performing while the World Cup is taking place, especially if Spain are playing well.”

Fourteen year old Kirsty Mason, who’s also in her third year at Hermitage Academy, added: “There’s going to be a real fiesta atmosphere in Barcelona and I can’ wait to be part of it.”

Phil Worms, Director of Marketing for iomart, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Hermitage Academy Senior Wind Band and hope their World Cup tour is a huge success.”
